The Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival, a much-awaited event of Province of Negros Occidental will be held for the first time at the Negros First Cybercentre grounds, as it turns a decade and a year this 2016.
Known as the Organic Agriculture Capital of the Philippines, Negros Occidental aims to once again gather of organic farmers, producers, retailers, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and advocates from around the island from November 15-19, 2016. This year’s theme “Get Connected” coincides with the goal of the province to integrate information and communications technology (ICT) with agriculture and other business sectors.
The festival, being the longest running and biggest province-wide event will feature different organic products from organic fresh, cooked as well as potted plants, organic inputs from over 150 exhibitors made up of small farmers, non-government organizations, people’s organization, indigenous people, agrarian beneficiary, cooperatives and private companies and advocates.
From several years of being staged near the provincial capitol grounds, exhibitors will now be in a wider location offered by Negros First CyberCentre, formerly a portion of the Paglaum Sports Complex, which is now the biggest presidentially-proclaimed PEZA information technology (IT) hub in the island.
Negrenses and visitors can enjoy organic produce, home cooked native foods, healthy and specialty food directly from the producers themselves and everyone’s invited to join different talks, entertainment from local artists and so much more.
Every night, the five-day event, will be marked with cultural and entertainment shows to feature local talent and local companies supporting the organic agriculture sector./JEBS
