The Department of Agriculture is doing its best
to lower the prices of organic products to make it affordable, not only for the
rich but also for the poor.
DA Undersecretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat said that “the prices of organic products should be lowered because farmers produce and apply organic fertilizer. We train the farmers but of course it's still their choice",

She said that their goal is to
produce more organic products because it's already in demand locally, as she
encouraged farmers to go organic because it is in demand not only in the local market but also in the international market.
Puyat said that it's not easy for organic
products to enter the international market because of the required certification.
However, she pointed out that organic products from the province has already earned international recognition.

Some of the products that are already certified
were organic coffee, organic muscovado sugar and organic black rice.
DA will provide organic seed,organic
fertilizer, trading posts and farmers trainings should a farmer decides to go
organic, she said.
They will also provide the certification, she
added.
